The entry ironwork is simply remarkable. They don't make them like they used to, no?
Fun little tidbit- Target Dept. stores has taken over at least the first three floors of this building and will be opening by the spring by the looks of things...
Louis Sullivan really was God, wasn't he?
Innovative, timeless and exuberantly fluid detailing that is so natural and difficult to achieve from materials. Sullivan was the God of the organic curve and Wright the God of angles and structured forms. Both were creatively light years ahead of their time. Amazing wood screen, mosaic tiled borders and filigree ironwork. Love the integrated use of vines/leaves in the stonework and the ironwork

As cited by another the bulk retail space is set to be re-opened in 2012 as a Target after Carson Pirie Scott ceased using it as their flagship store in 2007.
It's been restored with a great deal of detail and preservation in mind.
