Yesterday we had classic elegance on 5th Ave and today we have bombastic exuberance, which is a very good thing. This is wedding cake architecture in all its glory. Wonderfully over the top. It has lost some of its icing, I mean details, but hopefully some of it makes its way back onto the facade
If you look at it on Google Street View, be sure to check out all the additional pictures, which show the building without scaffolding.

Beautiful. I'm glad to see it's still standing.
I've just always loved this building.
