James G. Blaine residence designed by
John Fraser c. 1881 at 2000 Massachusetts Avenue in
Washington, D.C. In 1901 the home was purchased by
George Westinghouse. Today the building operates as commercial office space. Click

I pass this everyday. It's a law firm -the top 2 floors are used as an apartment for the owner I've been told.
"Blaine, Blaine, James G. Blaine, the continental liar from the state of Maine, 'Burn this letter!"

Blaine had two other houses here in Maine. His legal residence, barely used, in Augusta, which was given to the state by his daughters to be used as the Governor's mansion.

And an over-the-top summer home in Bar Harbor, later owned by his son-in-law, conductor Walter Damrosch. (Another Blaine daughter married a member of the Beale family, the maternal relations of Evalyn Walsh Mclean's husband, six degrees tying together the families of the two Washington houses Zach has posted here.
'Stanwood', Blaine's Bar Harbor house was designed by Henry Camac of Furness and Evans of Philadelphia.
