The Edward W. Sparrow Residence

The Edward Wheeler Sparrow residence designed by Parish & Schroeder c. 1910 at 41 East 68th Street in New York City.  Sparrow, a mining and lumber businessman, founded the Edward W. Sparrow Hospital in Lansing, Michigan.  The residence was converted into an apartment building c. 1950.  Click HERE to see the Sparrow residence on google street view (it's almost entirely obscured by a tree).  Photo from the Museum of the City of New York.

    As apartment houses go, the one across the street at 40 e. 68th is about as sexy as they come. I just wish the apartments weren't so small.

    No. 40 was the John D. Crimmins residence designed by Schickel & Ditmars c. 1897.

    The house was formed from a combination of two c. 1878 houses, one by William Schikel for Crimmins.
